However i found the road to yesterday somewhat disappointing this book is a collection of stories which take place in the area around glen st mary the town where gilbert and anne blythe settled down and raised their family although none of the stories are about them every story mentions them sometimes to a maddening degree. L m montgomery was born in 1874 on prince edward island in canada the setting of 19 of her 20 novels included among these books are her beloved anne of green gables series and a number of other novels and short story collections she died in toronto in 1942. The road to yesterday the road to yesterday is a collection of rediscovered short stories first published as a jacketed hardcover by mcgraw hill ryerson in 1974 the basis of this collection is a typescript by lm montgomery entitled the blythes are quoted that was found in her surviving papers by her son dr e stuart macdonald.
